How To Find the Perfect Pair of Wellies

How To Find the Perfect Pair of Wellies

We know our stuff here at Jobsons when it comes to wellies and buying the perfect pair. Let's be honest, there are so many brands out there that purport to be the best that the options on offer can be confusing to say the least.

Jobsons have been selling wellies for decades so we know what we're talking about.

We think you should consider two main factors when buying a pair of wellies:

  1. What is the main purpose of your wellington boots? Are they just going to be used occasionally or will you use them every day (maybe more than once a day) on rough ground, or in muddy / dirty conditions?
  2. How much are you prepared to pay for your wellies? What is your budget? As with everything in retail, you do get what you pay for, so its important to consider what you can afford before you begin your welly buying journey.

If you just want a pair of wellies that you'll wear occasionally, more in an urban setting rather than an urban one, then the various styles in the Barbour range are the perfect ones for you.

If you're a woman who likes to slip on a pair of wellies to go to put the rubbish bag in the bin or to run a quick errand into town in bad weather, we love the Wilton range is just for you. In classic Barbour olive green colour, these ankle boots are great for light gardening in finer conditions too, and the price at £54.95 is extremely affordable.

If you're after something a bit more fashionable in an on-trend urban colour, we also recommend the Clifton wellingtons. They look great with a pair of jeans or cord trousers and have a very fashionable chunkier heel.

Barbour Clifton Wellingtons £59.95

For a full length unisex option you can't go wrong with Tempest wellingtons, also from Barbour. Again in their classic green colour, these are great for occasional use, and with their neoprene lining they'll keep your feet warm and dry on that country walk.

If you need something a bit more substantial then we can't recommend Aigle's enough. Jobsons owner Rachel has had her pair of Parcours Iso 2's for over 10 years and has worn them just about every day and they're still as good as new. If that's not a reliable ringing endorsement we don't what is!

Still handmade in France by master craftsmen, we offer a choice of the Parcours Iso 2 (with a 5mm thick neoprene lining) or the Parcours Vario 2 (with a thinner 3mm neoprene lining) for those who don't need the warmth of a thicker version.

For the absolute show stopper wellingtons, you have to consider Le Chameau. These iconic light green wellies have been favoured by celebrities and farmers alike for years. Still handmade by mastercraftsmen, each pair is unique.

We sell two classic styles of Le Chameau's - the Chasseur and Vierzonord. And the best part is they both come in ladies and mens widths across the calves so the fit is even more tailored to your leg shape. The Chasseur has a 5mm neoprene lining, whereas the Vierzonord has a 3mm lining to give you even more choice. If you want a pair of wellingtons that will withstand the elements, last longer than one season, and have a style that is timeless, then Le Chameau is the brand for you.
